Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015 & the Quality Standards

Your manager approves everything

Drafts are watermarked until the RM signs them off

Kept current for you

Reviewed updates when guidance changes

From Statement of Purpose to approved library

1

Tell us about your home

A short wizard captures your Statement of Purpose — cohort, ethos, Registered Manager, local authority, safeguarding contacts — plus your logo and colours.

2

Generate your policy library

Each policy is written around your home from a maintained master template, grounded in the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and the Quality Standards.

3

Review, approve, download

Your Registered Manager reviews, edits any detail, and approves in-app. Approved policies download as branded Word documents with a full version audit trail.

Everything a home needs its policies to do

Not just a document generator — a way to keep your whole policy library tailored, current, approved and read.

Written around your Statement of Purpose

Not generic templates with your name pasted in — every section is drafted for your cohort, ethos, setting and local contacts, so it reads as written for your home.

A full library in minutes

Generate your whole policy set from maintained masters with fixed, inspection-ready structure — then add any home-specific detail you want woven in.

You stay in control

Nothing goes live until your Registered Manager approves it. Edit any section inline, and a policy can't be approved until every [insert …] placeholder is completed.

Branded, audit-ready documents

Download approved policies as branded .docx files. Every document records the master version it came from, who approved it and when.

Staff reading & sign-off

Assign reading lists to staff, who certify 'read and understood' in their own portal — with reading-time tracking and a short comprehension check, not just a tick-box.

Reports for inspection

See who has read what, which policies are current, and where attention is needed — then export audit-ready reports as CSV or a branded Word document.

Stays current

When the regulations move, your library knows

Polvern monitors the key Ofsted and children's-homes sources. When something changes, we publish a reviewed update — and every affected home sees exactly which policies need refreshing, with a plain-English summary of what changed and how important it is.

One click regenerates the policy against the new requirement, still tailored to your Statement of Purpose, ready for your Registered Manager to approve.

  • Daily checks of the core statutory sources
  • Affected policies flagged on your dashboard
  • Plain-English summary + importance rating per change
  • One-click regenerate, tailored to your home
  • Full history of what changed and when
  • Each staff member gets their own secure sign-in
  • Assign reading lists with completion deadlines
  • Staff certify “read and understood” themselves
  • Reading time tracked, plus a short comprehension check
  • You see who's up to date and who's overdue

Proof staff have read it

A policy isn't done when it's written — it's done when staff have read it

Polvern gives your team a mobile-friendly reading portal. Staff work through their assigned policies and certify each one — with reading-time tracking and a quick understanding check that deters click-through.

You get the evidence an inspector wants: who has read which policy, when, and how they confirmed they understood it.

Questions, answered

Does Polvern replace legal or professional advice?

No. Polvern is a drafting tool that produces tailored documents to the standards Ofsted inspects against. Every policy requires review and approval by your Registered Manager before use, and responsibility for compliance remains with the provider.

How does it stay current with changing regulations?

We monitor the core statutory sources — the Children's Homes Regulations 2015, the Quality Standards, the SCCIF, Working Together and Keeping Children Safe in Education — and publish reviewed updates. Your affected policies are then flagged with a plain-English summary and an importance rating, and one click regenerates them against your Statement of Purpose.

Who approves the policies?

Your Registered Manager. Drafts are watermarked until approved, and the approval — who and when — is recorded against the exact document version for your audit trail.

Can I edit a policy if something isn't quite right?

Yes. You can edit any section in-app before approving — cover figures, local contacts, specific wording — and your changes save straight into that draft.

Is there a contract?

No. Plans are monthly and you can cancel any time. Annual billing with two months free is available once you're set up.

Give your home a policy library that keeps up

Tailored, current, approved and read — without the binder of generic templates.

Polvern provides document drafting tools, not regulated advice. Every document requires review and approval by your Registered Manager before use, and responsibility for compliance remains with the provider.
